The Helsinki School’s circle of friends

The Helsinki School represents far more than a selected group of artists originating out of Aalto University School of Arts, Architecture and Design in Helsinki. For over 25 years it has been a leading force in emphasising the use of photography and its processes as tools for conceptual thinking, thus shaping a contemporary view of Nordic culture. It has been a model for a new approach to education, as well as a vehicle for collaborative thought and cooperation. What began as an academic experiment in the early 1990’s, evolved into one of the longest lasting sustainable movements of its kind in photography. Designed by Timothy Persons, the goal from the beginning was to initiate and advance new opportunities for graduating students that were virtually non-existent at the time. Today, it represents more than 60 artists with over 160 books by international publishers accompanied by numerous exhibitions worldwide, all under the Helsinki School name.

We invite you to become a member of the Helsinki School’s circle of friends. With this membership, you will support the diverse activities of the Helsinki School and thanks to your patronage, we can improve the promotion of our artists by publishing books and organising exhibitions, among many other activities.

As a member, you will receive personal invitations to exclusive events, previews of the shows, lectures, books promotions, artists studio visits, private receptions and in addition to the benefits above, every year:

a photo print of your choice, part of a limited edition created by Helsinki School artists

signed copy of books published by the Helsinki School.

We will also be happy to discuss further possibilities for supporting members who consider becoming a part of the inner circle and have their names published in future publications.

Thank you in advance for your kind support,

Asia Zak Persons & Timothy Persons
