Book launch of Existence Doubtful

The book launch of Ville Lenkkeri's  Existence Doubtful will take place at ARTag gallery in Helsinki. Ville Lenkkeri's third book consists of pictures from Antarctica and Tierra del Fuego as well as of a text that uses the physical journeys as a frame, but takes side steps to subjects like humanism, colonialism, greed, representation and the potentials of photography. The book is published by Kerber Verlag.

Book launch of Archive Play

Archive Play is a joint effort between the artists Hertta Kiiski and Niina Vatanen and the curator Mirjami Schuppert. The book is a tentative and imaginative exploration into the photographic archive as generator of multiple meanings. The bodies of work by the artists were created as a response to the Helvi Ahonen collection, housed at the Finnish Museum of Photography. The book launch will take place at Photographic Gallery Hippolyte in Helsinki.

The other designated William Thuring Prizes 2014

The artists Elina Brotherus and Jari Silomäki were granted with the other designated William Thuring Price 2014.

The William Thuring Foundation's main prize and other designated prizes are awarded without application to mid-career artists between ages 35 and 45. On principle, the prize and the grants are awarded annually, and the funds to be awarded are included in the Foundation's annual donation to the Art Society.

Paris Photo 2014

Gallery Taik Persons is pleased to announce its participation at Paris Photo 2014. On the occasion of the Helsinki School's 20th anniversary and the publication of the 5th Volume of Helsinki School books, Helsinki School, From the Past to the Future, we will present a few historical key pieces from well-known Helsinki School artists alongside the most recent works by the various generations of artists. Please come to see us at booth C32. We will present works by Joakim Eskildsen, Eeva Hannula, Ulla Jokisalo, Eeva Karhu, Pertti Kekarainen, Jonna Kina, Ola Kolehmainen, Tanja Koljonen, Milja Laurila, Janne Lehtinen, Anni Leppälä, Niko Luoma, Susanna Majuri, Nelli Palomäki, Jyrki Parantainen, Jorma Puranen, Mikko Rikala, Santeri Tuori and Niina Vatanen.
